Hello everyone, and welcome back to the second week of Not So Fast Fashion! This week I’ve written an opinion piece on what I believe to be the top 10 online clothes shopping websites right now.

ASOS

ASOS, is a British fashion website, originally founded as ‘As Seen On Screen’ in the year 2000. It has continuously offered the hottest and most cutting-edge fashion, a lot of pieces that most mainstream websites wouldn’t sell. Unlike most on this list, ASOS has a broader audience, with equal offerings to both men and women. They don’t just sell their own clothing items, but also offer hundreds of other brands to their customers.

Pretty Little Thing

Pretty Little Thing is a clothes shopping website which I previously introduced in last week’s blog post and is currently one of the top online fashion retailers in the world. PLT, as it is usually called, primarily aims their marketing and products towards a younger female audience, and they often use social media to engage with the people who use their brand. The brand currently has 11.8 million followers on Instagram, proving that they have carved out their place in the scene, and are here to stay.

Boohoo

Boohoo is another online retailer which I introduced in last week’s blog post, with it being part of the Kamani fashion empire, just like it’s sister brand Pretty Little Thing. Boohoo also majorly markets to a young female audience, however offer some aspects that PLT does not with the recent introduction of BoohooMan. BoohooMan offers similarly affordable and fashion clothes, but instead primarily towards a male audience, offering the men the chance to use these websites as well.

Missguided

Missguided was established in 2009 by Nitin Passi, and ever since their formation have been offering fashionable and affordable clothes to young people. Missguided, although not any relation to the Kamani family fashion empire, does offer very similar types of clothing and branding that the aforementioned Boohoo and PLT do. Missguided are constantly refreshing their branding and audience, with recent collaborations with Playboy and model and influencer Sofia Ritchie offering a different type of fashion.

Fashion Nova

Fashion Nova, unlike the other four brands I have written about, was a brand founded in the USA in 2013. Fashion Nova focuses on offering flattering shape wear and tight clothing for curvier women, aiming to give women with these body types clothing that appreciates their bodies. In 2017, Fashion Nova became one of the most searched fashion brands on Google, amongst other prestigious brands like Gucci and Louis Vuitton. A lot of world-famous celebrities advertise their use of the brand, one very famous one being female rapper Cardi B.

In The Style

We’re going back to the British online clothing brands now with In The Style, a website founded just 6 years ago by entrepreneur Adam Frisby. In The Style as a brand gained their popularity through collaborations with many famous British reality stars and online influencers, examples being Charlotte Crosby, Binky Felstead and Olivia Attwood. The brand offers celebrity inspired, highly fashionable clothing at an affordable price, helping their customers to achieve an idealist and glamorous look.

I Saw It First

I Saw It First is a relatively new, up and coming online retailer, only being founded in 2017. Because the company is only in its infancy, there is not as much known about the company compared to the others on our list. However, I Saw It First is growing at a very rapid rate, offering a different take on the affordable, fashionable clothing sold by other retailers.

Nasty Gal

We’re going back to the American fashion brands now, with Nasty Gal, which was founded in 2006 by Sophia Amuruso. Amuruso, being only 22 herself when she founded the brand, offered a similar viewpoint to the customers she was offering her clothes to, meaning she could relate to what was current and fashionable at the time. The Netflix show Girl Boss began in 2017, and told the story of the formation of Nasty Gal.

Shein

Shein as a brand offers a very different alternative to the other brands on my list, with the products they are offering being extremely affordable and covering a very wide variety of fashion choices. Shein takes longer on average to ship their pieces because of the international nature of the brand. The brand was founded in 2008, and according to their about page, upholds the philosophy that ‘everyone can enjoy the beauty of fashion.’

Zaful

Zaful as a brand is very similar to Shein, again offering very affordable clothes targeted towards both males and females of varying ages. The brand is relatively new but continues to grow in success due to it’s unique nature. The website often offers extreme sales and exclusive codes to their customers, incentivising them to keep coming back and buying more.

Thank you all for reading, and I will see you all again next week! Bye!
