Ever feel like no one quite understands your relationship with food quite like music does? It never judges you, and it certainly never left you 17 years ago to go get strawberry pop tarts and never came back! anyway… So I thought it best that FINALLY someone makes a list about this serious topic. for years I’ve needed to know this and after years of waiting, I’ve decided I’d take the burden upon myself to do what this nation needs. But, this is also about the incredible way that music can change a way we do something, repeating something over and over again with different music surprising feels like a different expeirence. After months of research, I give you, the 10 best albums to listen to while eating left over pizza. You’re welcome.
1. Radiohead- The Bends.
Who ever said tears don’t taste good on your slice? Feeling the weight of twenty minced pies on your shoulders after a long day shifting old sofas into a Vauxhall Corsavan for extra petty cash before Christmas arrives as you cram slice after slice of delicious rancid leftovers into your melon hole. Embrace it! Embrace that pain and hear the sweet sadness of Thom Yorke tell you just how bulletproof he wishes he was. Here is a visual representation of this, made by us! Obviously, we couldn’t afford Radiohead, but I’m the next best thing, right?
2. Kanye- Jesus Is King.
Go the other way, find God in those slices, because you deserve that peace of mind. Meditation with your head in the greasy box of your new faith. Stay in bed, till all the injustice in the world is gone, smashing £50 worth of cheese and dough into your blood system straight from the sauce (if you pardon the pun)- The holy way?
3. Frank Turner- No Mans Land.
Learn something from your mistakes. Sure ordering 10 stuff crust vegan pizzas sounds good when you’re awake at 3am, but the afternoon, waking up with the sun blaring your eyes because you left the curtains open, and you’re going to have to eat them or waste that sweet cash. So why not learn up and listen to frank teaching you about some great women from history who shouldn’t be forgotten to some pretty nifty tunes while you clean up your early morning mistake.
4. The Ogre Packet Slammers- Giant Green Destruction.
On the dawn of June 1st when it had come to pass that the ultimate meme album, to surpass even pink guy, had dropped we all stood in amazement as someone really spent time on this. An album based on Shrek, a death core album about Shrek?! Wallow in the mud and smash your skull through your step dads shed because this is the top choice, bros.
5. Daughters- You Won’t Get What You Want.
Except yes you already have what you want, a whopping great pie you ordered at 5am and fell asleep on top of. That’s it kid that’s breakfast. This dark twisted beauty will smash your rib cage open so you can just shove slice after slice into your chest without chewing. Then charge into your mums house like a rhino made out of pure steal because she has a pocket full of your He-man figures and you are gonna need those back for some seriously not-by-the-rules Warhammer with Michael later. Or maybe you just like dark music?
6. The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die- Whenever, If Ever.
Finally, a band name longer than my Dominos order. I find a great deal of comfort in that. I also find a great deal of comfort in the album and it certainly was a go through the highs and lows of another morning forcing down another slice of papa shame before running off to work. Nothing much to say about this bad boy other than that it’s a good album and you should check it out- with or without a cheesy fella in your palm.
7. Marina- Love + Fear.
I’ll get real with you here, I’m looking for a joke about handmade heavens and pizzas and it just isn’t coming. I’m sorry, I’m so sorry.
8. Matt Berry- Opium.
What more do you need to know other than this wild ride of an album goes incredibly fitting with a Luke warm triangle of your favourite bit of matter. This overly british record is a master class in experimental country music. So get experimental with your order, shove some strawberries on it, make a crocodile cry into the sauce, play a game of mouse trap with it before eating, its up to you, just get weird with it.
9. The Cure- Japanese Whispers.
Finally, here it is the last on the list, and oh wait its not a proper full length album. I know, I know. but, if you aren’t dancing around the house with your pants on your eye brows and a slice of mamas finest dangling from between your teeth to this hot record, I’m afraid we can’t be friends.
That’s it, that’s our list. All albums and pizzas tried by our in house team.
Thanks for reading.
