Detroit: Become Human-

Ps4 Video Game

2038. Detroit, Michigan. City of the past and the future. The existing proof of success and rebirth that humanity managed to create. The city of Detroit has brought America to one of its greatest point in history with the invention of intellectual beings that surpass human intelligence; androids. The primary work force, including maids, waitresses, construction workers, and soldiers have been replaced by the machines. Purchasable androids stand on stores with a price tag of less than a single car. But the great development came with consequences. A 37% unemployment rate as well as a massive social class gap between the riches and the poor. A city relying so much on the existence of androids yet having the poorer population against their entire existence. And the rising of some machines named ‘Deviants’, disobeying their code and choosing to have free will. Follow through three protagonist androids through an intriguing point of time game developers from Quantic Dream introduce; Kara, a housemaid android, Markus, an assistant and carer, and Connor, a specialized police investigation model. Choose through conflicting choices and experience a branching story through the eyes of a machine and go through a world who wants to stop them from being who they really are. The fate of the characters, Detroit, and the whole world depend on your choice. What sacrifices will you make to become free? What sacrifices will you make to be truly human? Kara Gillians

Detroit become human is an interactive ps4 video game that could possible resemble the future of our world and artificial technology.

Before the late 1980s, the robotics field existed as a pure mechanical landscape that required human commands to control robots. Thereafter, sensory feedback control was introduced through the creation of robots that applied intelligence to perform tasks such as the identification and removal of improvised explosive devices.

Robots, have for a while, been instrumental in helping human beings to undertake tasks that are either too dull, too dangerous, too difficult or too precise for the humans.

Advancements in the field of robotics have seen successful development of robots that are smart enough to follow voice prompts and avoid obstacles. Robots are now also able to orient themselves whenever they are placed in new environments and can even make decisions.

The value of such robots in times of disasters such as chemical spills and nuclear accidents prompted the question of how robots can be applied in solving some of the challenges caused by the Covid – 19 Pandemic.

The best part about using robots during the COVID-19 pandemic, is that unlike humans, robots cannot be infected with biological germs or viruses. In an editorial in the March issue of the Science Robotics, a number of scholars asked engineers and scientists to identify and incorporate ways in which robots could be used to solve some of the problems that had resulted from the pandemic, and sure enough, the challenge was taken up. Robots have been instrumental in helping humans to manage the fight against the pandemic and the excerpts below provide some examples that illustrate this fact.

Robot delivering food to infected individuals.

The first illustration involves an analysis of how most hotels in Europe cordoned off part of their hotel wings to be used as quarantine centres for individuals who are suspected of having contracted the virus. This includes individuals who have travelled from virus-prone regions for one reason or the other. The food and basic products required by the individuals in the quarantine wings are delivered by robots that ensure that the hotel’s staff do not interact directly with quarantined individuals. Outside the hotel, aerial robots are tasked with transporting blood samples to the nearest testing centres to establish whether the individuals are infected or not.

Doctors and nurses at the Circolo Hospital in Varese city in Italy are using a robot as one of the measures of containing the virus. The robot-named Tommy-is a telepresence automaton that has a camera and a screen as well as a joystick controller and intuitive software. Consequently, doctors are able to provide various healthcare services to patients that include providing their medication, taking their temperature as well as monitoring their vitals. Robots are, therefore used to perform simple tasks and to facilitate communication between patients and the doctor virtually instead of healthcare personnel being forced to suit up each time they are required to provide some form of service to Covid-19 patients. For a task such as taking the temperature, the robot approaches the patient with a thermometer and the doctor virtually instructs the patient where to place it, for how long and how to hand it back to the robot.

In most Chinese hospitals, robots that look like two fluorescent lights move throughout hospitals, to disinfect entire buildings from any trace of the virus. The disinfection is done using ultraviolet light as a way of reducing the spread of the virus on surfaces and health officials that have become increasingly susceptible since they work directly with the patients.

The use of robots during this pandemic provides for an opportunity for the world to learn something about robots i.e. robots are not perfect replacements for people. Instead, robots are used to help ensure the safe performance of tasks as well as to handle increased tasks and reduce work load. The application of robots during this disaster can be used to provide more insight during the development of advanced robots can support specialized circumstances without threatening human careers.

Its not all medical though.

A very interesting field to look at and explore is public relations. Ever thought that there would be an artificial being doing the job of a receptionist? Well now there is.

While there is still a long way to go in order to perfect the use of Artificial Robots, humanity is surely going in the right direction to creating a futuristic world.. Detroit: Become Human ?
