The world of virtual reality has expanded immensely. It has now been able to affect and change multiple different fields.

Starting of with how virtual reality can impact healthcare.

  • Virtual reality can help patients suffering from pain.
  • Virtual Reality Vaccine. (VR vaccine).

The VR vaccine Application-

‘A moment of pain being transformed into a moment of entertainment. Dr Melissa Palmieri.’

This acts as a remarkable aid towards paediatricians, children and parents alike. As a child experiencing fear of needles could now partake in a colourful and friendly journey easing the process. As shown in the video, the child’s experience is much calmer, and their reaction to them taking the vaccine was described as cool. This also makes it much easier for the doctor to complete the process of the vaccination. Thanks to the skills of the doctors added with the calming journey of the application what was once a scary and gruelling experience for the patients, is now a fun adventure.

Virtual Reality Calming Patients

‘Virtual reality treats the pain by distracting the patient, Virtual reality is gaining momentum and its going to become a real player in this area.- Dr Ralph Anderson.’

The process of treating pain has been the same for many years, (treatment via pills). However we reached a time where Virtual Reality could now possibly be the main form of treatment.

The augmented reality was able to assist with patients going through labour. As Melissa Slattery (labour patient) explained. The augmented reality was able to act as a distraction and was able to help massively with the pain. By listening to the calming voice through the headphones as well as following the cathartic visual images provided via the augmented reality it helps massively with patients going though the tense pain of labour.

An analysis of the video above is required in order to truly appreciate and understand the level of high advancements virtual reality is reaching. This video was extremely well done and well placed together, as it is extremely informative regarding the incredible innovations focused on what Applied Vr and Dr Brennan Spiegel are doing when it comes to assisting the patients.

One day of Opioids creates a 6% chance of being dependent on the pill. By using the Vr headset and being placed in this augmented world it can help with the distribution of pain around the body, as the brain will now primarily be focused on a more pleasant factor. This acts as a remarkable and natural substitute from the pills. As there are practically no negative side affects when the patient enters the augmented reality. Keep in mind everything the patient sees via the headset can be edited and changed to suit the different wants of other patients.

‘With virtual reality we have seen a 50% reduction of pain. Dr Brennan Spiegel.’

This acts as a form of advanced meditation. It tweaks the mind in a positive way. Overall helping the patients with a tense and anxious experience by turning it into a pleasant journey. As one of the patients even forgot that she was in a hospital undergoing medication, and this was all thanks to the amazing world of virtual reality.

Virtual Reality In Marketing

Currently, virtual reality is used in video games to transform an individual’s actual reality to an augmented reality universe.

Brands have only started taking this up and I foresee this becoming the future of marketing. Virtual reality will be used by marketers to clearly show the purpose of a brand, to demonstrate how the product works and how it can be applied towards the consumers’ lifestyle as well as to engage and excite the customer about the brand. Thomas Cook is one such organisation that decided to incorporate virtual reality into its marketing package. As a pioneer within the tourism industry, Thomas Cook,  introduced the in-store virtual reality experience through which clients can get an opportunity to experience virtual holidays. Through the VR gears, a client can virtually experience Greece, Cyprus, Egypt, Singapore and other locations in order to decide whether they want to physically visit this places.

The world of marketing is expanding in a remarkable pace, and the future of marketing could very much go hand in hand with technological advancements like VR. A very incredible experience that I personally went through supports my statement fully.

It was a time when a launch of a new student accommodation was taking place. The building looked exquisite from the outside hence raising my interest towards it. However the interior was not complete.

But thanks to the incredible innovation of virtual reality I was able to visit the local office and take a very high quality personal tour of the building.
