Skin Problems & Skin Types #BACOM

The first step to improving your skin is to know your skin type. I will help you determine your skin type along with the perfect exfoliators for your skin. Buckle up!

Of course, you are still going to need to try products and see what works (but you’ll be searching in the right area). This might be easy for some to determine, but for others, not so much. Trying out different products and experimenting was how I came to learn my skin type. Of course, technology had not evolved enough at the start of my skin care journey. 2011, I was a young 12-year-old girl only beginning my skincare journey. At the time, I didn’t even know ‘skin type’ was a thing. I went out on my first shopping trip! No direction and no technological help (not that technology wasn’t available AT ALL).

I have since learnt about my skin. The ins and outs of my texture, problems my skin is prone to and more. After much determination, I understood my skin to be combination skin. As technology evolves it is made easier. Understandably, not everyone would want to apply a bunch of products on their face and hope for the best. Don’t worry, your skin is safe here. You can learn your skin type without having to go through various products which could break out your skin type.

While these apps can help track your progress, don’t fall into the bubble of feeling self-conscious because they are not entirely accurate. It is human nature to feels a certain way when you don’t feel or look the way you would like. It breaks down your skin areas and problems. Remember, who you are isn’t just about your skin lovelies so stay confident.

Skin types

So, we’ve talked about the skin problems, but what skin type are you?

Your skin type can change over time depending on a number of things; your age, what you consume and how much water you drink

According to Eucerin.co.uk there are 4 skin types. You may have been wondering why some products have not been working for you the way they say they should. It may be because you were unaware of what your skin type really is. Take some time out to read through the and learn your skin type. I have also listed some products that would be suitable for each of skin types. Let us make our skin flawless TOGETHER!

4 Key skin types

Normal Skin– no or few imperfections, no severe sensitivity, barely visible pores and a radiant complexion

Dry Skin– almost invisible pores – red patches (may not be visible depending on how light or dark your skin is) – dull complexion

Oily Skin– large pores – shiny, thick complexion – blackheads, pimples or other blemishes

Combination Skin– larger than normal pores – shiny skin – blackheads

Society allows us to learn from one another through various social media platforms. We follow influencers we enjoy watching on YouTube, Instagram and other social media platforms. When we can relate to influencers we enjoy watching, we tend to try out products they promote to us. One of my favourite YouTubers to watch is Aaliyah Jay and she has the dry skin type. Although I do not have dry skin, I enjoy watching her skincare and learning about the products that work for her and why they do. There are pros and cons for each product (depending on each person), but these social media platforms allow us to gather information. These platforms allow us to learn about these skin care products before trying them out and physically see the product in action. I watch all sorts of skincare videos whether they personally relate to me or not.

Using various social media platforms and influencers, I have complied the ‘perfect’ list of products for your face care routine and steps to follow. Each skin type has something to cater to their issues whether oily, combination, dry to normal. For all your skin care needs regardless of your skin type right here!
