Your Fitness #BACOM

Your fitness is important. It is a state of wellbeing your body is in. Being fit means maintaining a healthy lifestyle and fitness level. Maintaining your weight, reaching your body goals you’ve set out for yourself and preventing health issues such as diabetes are some of the main ways’ fitness can helps.

Media and Fitness

Digital media could inspire you people to workout at any time and any place. We have platforms such as YouTube and Instagram where we can learn and take part in workouts. On these platforms there are personal trainers and people like you and I, just trying to figure it out. Just like having your own personal trainer everywhere you go. There are gym and fitness apps available to work out from the comfort of your home. This is an example of how media can impact fitness. It is at the tip of your fingers, always available to help improve your fitness.

Gym Shark have an app in which they collaborate with fitness trainers. You fill in your aims, body weight and other details about your body. These workouts are designed specifically for your body. You could also select any workout on the app. From arm workouts and legs to abs and glutes, they’ve got it all. These apps are an improvement to people who might have anxiety or may not be confident in the gym.

There are well known fitness trainers on the Gym Shark app such as Brittne Jackson. When in media, influence is important. Which is why I think it is important that when designing apps like these, collaborating with fitness influencers we look up to in our contemporary society is key. Similar to trying out new products because the people we enjoy watching use them, seeing our favourite influencers keeping fit inspires us to push our fitness levels. The #fitspo relating to all fitness and fitness inspiration has got over 70,000,000 posts on Instagram. From workout inspiration to workout gear and many more including celebrities promoting some of their ‘feel good favourites’.

Although this is the case, we should never fail to understand that people have their own individual fitness struggles. Whatever it is you think about your favourite fitness influencer, they have had their own fitness struggles. While social media can inspire us to reach for our goals, it can sometimes be difficult not to compare yourself and your body to those that are your fitness inspirations. In the end, such social media platforms could start to damage a person’s self-esteem. Maintaining your fitness with all the social media surrounding it can be a lot of pressure. The constant comparisons to other peoples’ journey, overcalculating your calories and feeling extremely guilty when you slip up with eating one unhealthy food.

Instead, what we should do is take all this inspiration and shape it to our individual selves. Make adjustments such as writing goals we can reach and making sure you never compare your journey to someone another person. It takes time to reach your goals  and remain confident!

Workout!

Struggling to find time to work out in your day? Do your workouts take up so much of your time that you are unable to fit a workout in your day? According to the NHS, aim for a physical activity every day. Aim for 150 minutes of moderate workout each week or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity work outs. What is HIIT?

High Intensity Interval Training involves doing short, intensive and effective workouts. The aim of this workout is to challenge and intensify your cardio levels. These workouts are usually 20-90 seconds per set and the aim is to push yourself to the max to reach these high levels of cardio.

I think these are the best type of workouts. There are minimal recovery periods, your mind is constantly focusing on your current workout and what the next workout is. This form of working out increases the rate of fat loss and with weights incorporated into the workout, you could use HIIT to tone your body. The continuous HIIT can increases your metabolism.
